ButterFly Marketing Manuscript Update

October 5th, 2006

ButterFly Marketing Manuscript

I must say I was impressed with this product. I am glad I did read it because in the next month I will release my own product and will use many of the ideas set forth in the Manuscript for my product. The e-book has lots of good stuff around product launches and maximizing sales on up sells.

This book is not focused on the absolute newbie but still if you have done any affiliate marketing online you fill find this worth having in your tool box.

Again I will use many of the principles Mike has in his book for my upcoming launch. I will do another update to let you know how it went.

I recommend this as a buy. You can get more information here.

The Other Google

October 4th, 2006

Is it Diet Google? Check out the new google search site called SearchMash which is with out google branding and ads? I have only used it a couple of times so I will have more info at a later date.

Until then fell free to read this short article on Cnet and check the search engine for yourself. Links to the story below.

Google has created a search site without any Google branding to test new features. The site, SearchMash, has a simple blue and white interface with a search bar and an option to click on “popular searches.” Once keywords are entered, the results page features links to results running down the left side of the page and the top three image results on the right side.

wordpress mass delete spam comments

September 29th, 2006

How many of you are sick of all the spam you get on your blog? Ok, stupid question I know. Well I just check my database using phpmyadmin and found I had over 16,000 spam comments waiting for moderation on one of my blogs!

So I tried to find a plugin to handle a mass delete for wordpress 1.5 but nothing seemed to work. So I went old school, logged into phpmyadmin went to the comments table and added this line:

DELETE FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = “0″;

66 seconds later all 16,000 spam comments where gone! I was more than happy. I checked my blog and for what ever reason it seemed to run much faster? Not sure if there is any correlation?

I am sure there are some really good plugins for wordpress 2.0 and beyond but if you want to get it done quick and dirty this way worked fro me.

Want to be a Millionaire

September 29th, 2006

Time and time again it has been proven that millionaires follow very simple financial rules that produce results. I follow Liz Pulliam and found this article posted today. I my self have adopted all the habits on her millionaire list.

We do, however:

* Make financial security a priority.

* Spend less than we earn.

* Save and invest regularly.

* Pay down our debt.

* Own a home.

* Maximize our incomes.

Pay Per Click Fraud

September 25th, 2006

In our pay-per-click (PPC) efforts we use both 3rd party companies to handle bid management and we also do handle certain clients by ourselves. When you are managing the PPC and the campaigns are rather small it’s much easier to track and catch click fraud. It is also easier to contact Goggle, Yahoo and MSN to start an investigation and maybe get your money back.

It’s the clients that spend between $20,000 and $50,000 a month where we fear the PPC fraud the most. The 3rd parties say they aggressively track and ask for refunds, but we really don’t know how “aggressive” they are in fighting Click Fraud. So when I read articles such as the one I have included in this post, I think it’s time for me to get much more aggressive on learning about click fraud and what we can do to prevent it. I for sure will check out Click Tracks as i star to investigate this issue much more deeply.

The company added an elaborate marketing effort on search engines that included a pay-per-click advertising campaign based on keywords and phrases. For its trouble, DiamondHarmonyDiamondHarmony became ensnared in click fraud.Instead of actual prospects, the clicks were coming from fraudulent sources. The fraud, which cost DiamondHarmony $17,000 over seven months, was uncovered through analytical software the company installed from ClickTracks of Santa Cruz, Calif.

Forbes 10 richest Americans

September 22nd, 2006

I am a huge support of higher education. However College is not for everyone. I have said that for years. I personally went to college but many of my family did not and they do very well in life.

Again I value education very much but if you look at the top 10 richest American you find that at least 50% dropped out of college. What this tells me is they were smart enough to make it to the University but probably had their heads in the clouds and wanted to go out into the world and make some money.

And good for them! Oh and by the way for the first time ever the top 400 Forbes list has only Billionaires…

The top 10

1 William Henry Gates III

2 Warren Edward Buffett

3 Sheldon Adelson

4 Lawrence Joseph Ellison

5 Paul Gardner Allen

6 Jim C. Walton

7 Christy Walton & family

8 S. Robson Walton

9 Michael Dell

10 Alice L. Walton

The Super Affiliate Handbook Update

September 9th, 2006

The Super Affiliate Handbook - Rosalind Gardner

She starts her e-book with six cardinal rules:
1. Profit form what you know
2. Show respect to your visitors
3. Fewer sites, more visitors
4. Multiple Marketing methods
5. Build community

So far so good! I agree 100% with her business mine set. But at 274 pages I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad. What I mean if it’s 274 pages of “”real” information and not filler material this will be great.

I have made money online with affiliate programs since 1998 but not at the level of Rosalinda so I am all ears. But I am on page 46 and so far the information is for people who are completely new to the web and affiliate programs. Much of the information is about general affiliate businesses and how to run a online business. This again is very useful to someone but for people who have some experience with online business it’s really just a refresher course.

The Jim effect.

She cites a great tip from Jim Edwards on how to become an expert on any product. I won’t reveal the tip but it’s a good one. It’s also great for product research.

How to become an expert at any topic:
1. Buy a e-book or book on any topic you wish to learn
2. Visit Amazon and read the table of contents of at least 5 more books on the same subject.
3. Make a list of 10 problems faced by the people interested in the topic

This is a great tip for product research. The e-course is full of really great tips based on a proven track record.

I learned a lot from the course but I would say its real focus is for the new internet marketer. In her 274 page book she covers everything. So if you need a step by step blue print to get your affiliate online business running this course is for you.

Even if you are an “expert” at online marketing I would still suggest you buy the course because it helps to re-focus you on course actions that produce results.

Over all I learned a lot and I am happy to have this in my marketing library.

PodPress Update

September 9th, 2006

So I tried the podpress plugin for wordpress and liked it over all. There was one really big issue for me, which was it does not support Camtasia style flash movies. And if it does I tried to get it working for several hours and nothing worked. It worked great with quicktime and mp3, so I see the value there. It would be great if it could support Camtasia as I use that tool a lot.

Another small point. When you install the plugin it by default puts a link back to the podpress site on every page of your site. Not cool. I am happy to support the effort of the script auther but give me the choice. The good news is it was very easy to go in to the control panel for the podpress and disable the link.

on a scale of 5 I would give it a 3 and a half. Once they fix the two issues above it’s a 5!
